    Description

PORT ROYAL MADE BATTLE DAMAGED DAGGER, 1600s
This very rare Port Royal made battle damaged large dagger was found in the remains of an old stone building that was a warehouse & dated back to the late 1600’s.in Port Royal.
It is a 1 piece dagger,18 ¼” long with a 13 3/16” double edged blade, flat guard & rectangular pommel cap.
It in fair to good condition with medium pitting & has a dark brown patina.
It has some battle damage to one edge of the blade, 6 triangular dings that could have only been made from being struck by another knife or a sword blade!.
There were very few weapons ever recovered & are considered to be the rarest relics from Port Royal!
It was found in the 1950's & was on display in the Port Royal Museum for many years but was sold by the museum when it closed down to pay off debts.
It was bought by Joseph Becker a former U.S. Navy & sport diver that had dove on the old Port Royal harbor & had a large collection of relics.
It comes with a certificate of authenticity & a Becker Collection letter.
Artifacts from Port Royal are now considered to be quite rare & are never seen at antique shows anymore.
Port Royal Bay is now so polluted from the sewers of the nearby city that it is dangerous to swim or dive in the water!
See my other Port Royal artifacts a cannon grape shot ball from Captain Henry Morgan’s brig listed separately.
