    Description

    MILLER FAMILY VIRGINIA POWDER HORN, BACONS REBELLION &VIRGINIA MILITIA
    This very old Virginia powder horn was used by the Miller family of Rappahannock County Virginia during Bacon’s Rebellion in 1676 & later in the Virginia Militia from 1758 to 1780.
    It was used I Bacon’s Rebellion in 1676 by Simon Miller who was later pardoned after the rebellion ended.
    It was used in the Virginia Militia by Sergeant John Miller when he served in Captain William Preston’s Company of Rangers from 1758 through the Revolutionary War to March 22, 1780.
    This powder horn is 7 5/16” long with a pine base held on with very small brass pins & has a carved pouring spout.
    It is in good stable condition with an aged white/cream & tan color & has numerous small age imperfections but no holes, cracks or rot.
    It was bought directly from the Miller family & comes with a certificate of authenticity & historical research.
