    Description

    19th Century Italian Cinquedea
This fine richly decorated cinquedea dagger is in excellent condition. A fine recreation from the 19th century of one of the rarest and finest daggers.
The hilt heavily decorated with both designs on the guard and grip. While 19th century pieces are common, this level of craftmanship is not normally seen. As they tended to be crude and simple recreations of 15th and 16th century cinquedea.
The overall size is quite impressive and typical wide blade these daggers are known for. The overall construction is typical of a cinquedea dagger having curved quillons and a rounded horseshoe pommel.
The blade is heavily engraved with various scenes, figures and designs. The inscription can also be found on one side “NOBIL /  EST EN”. At the base of the blade there is a coat of arms, on the opposite side a depiction of a male bust. Truly the various scenes allow for much study into this special piece.
