Henry Patrick Raleigh
was born in Portland, Oregon in 1880. He
was a superb draftsman and accomplished illustrator who flourished during the Golden Age of American Illustration. He was sought after by the most popular authors and publications. During his success, he was one of the highest-paid illustrators in the country. In 1925, Art Critic Evert Shinn proclaimed him “America’s greatest illustrator.” [adapted from

Fair to Good antique condition, strong color and clean. There is edge wear and some long tears fron the top edge down, some paper loss in upper right corner.

issued by the U.S. Food Administration and promoting a contest among gardeners for the most food produced per plot. Text only, very “official” looking poster.

A word about these very old (100+ years) posters: these are from a private collection, but they have never been restored, framed, or altered. Most are in the condition they were in when they were taken down the day after World War 1 ended, rolled, and stored away. With a few exceptions, their condition is only antique Good, meaning they are complete, with good graphics and color, but showing signs of much handling and considerable age. These posters were ephemera

they were never meant to last long after the guns fell silent. Please keep this in mind when buying old paper items such as these.
