This 8 1/4 x 3 1/2 inch 1798 document has a 10 cent State of Vermont Tax Stamp impressed in the upper left hand corner with an eagle standing on a shield.  Levi Stebbins promises to pay Phinehas Smith the sum of ninety dollars to be paid the first day of sept next in stock at the appraised value to be delivered at my dwelling house in Brattleboro.  It is signed by Levi Stebbins and witnessed by Noah Morgan.  Shipping includes insurance.
