    Description

    1786 Green [e] County, North Carolina [later Tennessee] Deposition of Edward Hughes involving the sale of 1500 acres near Dan River in Salisbury, Rowan County, North Carolina from Robert Jones represented by Wm. Welden to John Carmichael and Robert Warrick. Also witnessed by Joseph Tate, Anthony Hampton and William Shepard. The deal then gives 500 acres to Robert Warrick with a mortgage. The deed has gotten wet crossing the River because of the "Great Rain" and the writer is producing another. Signers in Greene county are George Doherty (1749-1833) Revolutionary War soldier. leader of the State of Franklin and served in the first Tennessee Senate; Benjamin Gist (1730-1810) related to frontiersman Christopher Gist and served at Kings' Mountain and Jeremiah Jack (1750-1833) a JP and also served at Kings' Mountain. This becomes part of some law case Warnock et.al. v Amos Ladd et.al. An extremely early Tennessee related item. Sent flat.
